United Nations Development Programme to set brief for ICCO’s PR World Cup
The International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO) has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the 2023 Next Generation PR World Cup, taking place from 30th October, with the winner being announced on 10th November.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the leading United Nations organization fighting to end the injustice of poverty, inequality, and climate change. Working with our broad network of experts and partners in 170 countries and territories, we help nations to build integrated, lasting solutions for people and the planet. Their 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) represent a global roadmap for a green, just, and sustainable future. One of these goals is going to be the focal point of the creative brief for competitions run by ICCO: the Next-Gen PR World Cup and the University PR World Cup.
The Next-Gen PR World Cup is comprised of national Next Gen competition winners from across ICCO’s membership. In the global finals, teams of two under 35s will respond to the UNDP brief by putting together a 5-minute pitch for a PR campaign within 48 hours.
The finalists for the 2023 competition are:
- Adam Maj and Mikołaj Grzelak, representing Poland
- Miriam Hindsgaul and Rose Klausen, representing Denmark
- Abraham Christopher and Esther Marie Aruldass, representing Asia-Pacific region
- Kashika Gulati and Mahima Agarwal, representing India
- Zahra Fridie and David Gyampo, representing South Africa and the Africa region
- Clothilde Batoux, representing France
- Attila Csonka and Máté Lajer, representing Hungary
- Dana Hanna and Jack Everley, representing United Kingdom
- Zahra Zakriya and Karishma Hingorani, representing Middle East/North Africa region
The head of jury for the competition is Boaz Paldi, Chief Creative Officer, United Nations Development Programme. In this role Boaz oversees UNDP’s advocacy, flagship campaigns, events, activations and impact partnerships. Most recently Boaz launched the #DontChooseExtinction campaign that has been viewed by over 2 billion people across the globe. Prior to joining UNDP, Boaz worked as a TV journalist for 17 years covering conflicts, natural disasters and human-interest stories in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Balkans first for the BBC then the Associated Press and finally joining Reuters where he worked as a TV News Executive Producer for over 12 years.
The University PR World Cup also challenges PR student against an equally difficult brief. The global finalists’ submissions are judged by an international team of PR professionals, Next-Gen PR World Cup alumni and academics. The University competition takes place from 6thNovember, with winners being announced 19thNovember.
